Just 'discovered' your site. I've only read about ten of your articles, but i'm impressed by your analysis. Can't wait to read more, especially your take on the world cup. It'll be good to relive the moments again from a different perspective. Also have to tell some of my football-crazy mates about this site.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks for your comment and interest Frank, glad you enjoyed.

From time to time I do delve back into the World Cup archive, just to relive what was the greatest month or so imaginable. It evokes so many great memories, so I thought it'd be nice just to have it all together for anyone who feels like reminiscing.

Thanks for the interest and feeback Hamish and Mike. Appreciate your support. Always nice to know there are like-minded guys and girls out there as passionate about the round ball game as me.

Have really enjoyed this nice independent blogging network that's been built throughout season two.

Must admit I came into it towards the end of season one not having much of an idea about the blogging medium, simply saw it as an avenue to hone my writing skills and provide some insights into the game, hoping some-one might be interested.

Of course, having a full time job, and a young family, the hardest thing I've found is finding the time to get my thoughts down.

I've never really been one for forums, only cause I find it impossible to keep up.

So many thoughts, so many observations, if only there was enough time to post them all, something I'm sure you guys would feel from time to time.

You'll have to bare with me as I get through the season reviews, team by team, but first it's the team of the season.

Tony, massive effort, such thoughtful and incisive analysis should be rewarded more - every week has given me, for one, a better understanding of the league - it's been a real education. Thanks also for the conversations on all our various blogs. Never think you're speaking to the void..like Mikey says, you deserve a wider audience.

Gentlemen, thanks very much for your kind words and interest.

Always nice to know the work is appreciated. And just to confirm it ain't a one way street, I'm always learning from what you guys write. Football, for me, like life, is an ongoing education. I truly believe that in 40 yrs time there will still be something new to see and learn.

Mike, really good to catch up with you before the game yday, hope you enjoyed the game. Obviously it's evenly poised now, but I'd definitely rather be in Syd's shoes, with the runs on the board.

You mentioned you've been writing match reports for the Sydney forum, you should also pop 'em on your site, would be good to read immediately after a match.

Btw, thanks for the emails yday and for letting me know via my site that you sent me mail, otherwise I probably wouldn't have checked. The thing I find with gmail is it's very slow, perhaps cause I have dial-up?

And thanks heaps for passing on my site to Oscar. He'd also written to me, what a neat concept.

John, thanks for your emails also, I will take you up on that offer if/when I next go up to Cornubia, although, with a four month old, that might be a while away. Would love to meet you guys. Btw, do you play the game, cause my mate is often on the look-out for fill-ins for his mid-week futsal/indoor team. If either yourself or Hamish are interested I can pass on your details, so email me.

Wayne, would also like to catch up next time I go up to my favorite ground, Bluetongue, so drop me an email with your mobile and I'll let you know when I'm next up, which mightn't be till next season.

Btw, like you, I also love the radio medium and did a bit of internet (radio style) commentary during one season of the NSL for the website thestrip.com.au. A Melbourne based mob, their ambition was to stream every NSL game, but given the expense of stream earlier this decade, that eventually went bust (like so many ventures in the NSL). But I do love the medium and hope there is room for it in Sydney (and Qld) in the A-League.

In season one it was on Radio 2 in Syd, but I understand that station went belly-up.

I've had the good fortune of catch up with the guys from SEN and they do a great job down there. After the game they spend an hour taking talk-back, it's well packaged.

Anyway lads, keep up the great work and chat soon.

I'd like to, but in fairness to Grant (who runs SFCU), he gave me the match reporter gig and organised a press pass (and some other things) for me last year, so I think it's only fair that he gets first dibs on it.

Great to meet up with you yesterday Tony. Hope to see you again soon!

Thanks Tony

1. although, with a four month old, that might be a while away....

It gets better when they want to play

2. Would love to meet you guys. Btw, do you play the game, cause my mate is often on the look-out for fill-ins for his mid-week futsal/indoor team.

Interesting offer.. going for my junior coaching license in a couple of weeks - apparently FIFA accreditation now. Excited about learning more about a game I left behind some years ago.
